This Indonesian (uh, that's her web handle, not me saying "some random Indonesian person!") posted a link on Facebook showing the flowers all over Oslo. Last night Sverre and Iwent walking through Youngstorget and tried to capture all the memorials that have sprung up on our own camera. Our pictures can't come close to expressing the impact of all the flowers around Oslo. Roses have been threaded through everything and anything that will hold them.
The link is here... Markering Oslo 25 Juli
I wish I were there :/
ReplyDeleteOh, Corinne, thank you for posting that link, and thanks also to This Indonesian. The photos are amazing...all of the people gathered, and all of the flowers. Of course I burst into tears. :-(
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you and Sverre have been out and about, still being a part of your beautiful city.
I just caught up on your last few posts and so appreciate your thoughtful and informative take on things. I too am awed by the response of the Norwegian people to this horrible tragedy. Awed and humbled. I love this country more this week than I did last week, and I already loved it a lot.
TI, you'll be here soon! Beer, beer, beer.
ReplyDeleteMichele, thank you so much for the lovely compliments. The Norwegian method of handling this has surprised me from the start. Sverre said he found a comparison (more like contrast) of Bush and Stoltenberg, and I keep begging him to share it with me. And he keeps forgetting, grr!
